Saturday 28th March
The temporary southwesterly breeze on Friday meant a cloudy and damp day that produced 1.0mm of precipitation. At least there was a slight recovery in the temperature to a peak of 11.7C at 13.33 being 0.9C above average. The sky cleared after the weather front had moved on so another chilly night with a low of 0.6C at 06.03.
Due to clear skies, under a brief ridge of high pressure on Saturday, sunshine greeted the new day that had lifted the temperature to 5.6C by 08.00.
The next few days will bring variable, unsettled weather with cloud increasing on Sunday that is likely to bring rain in the afternoon as a cold front passes over, whilst on Monday the high pressure is forecast to fight back across the country but it will result on a cool northwesterly again.
The rainfall this month now totals 36.9mm, which is 51% of my 42-year record whilst the loss of equivalent rainfall through evaporation into the atmosphere from ground sources and plant life almost equals the rainfall total with a loss of 35.7mm.
There seems, hopefully, to be just a temporary technical problem with the station data updating about an hour behind actual time. I see there has been reported a ‘Weatherlink’ problem associated with the latest Apple update, not sure if that is the problem. I hope this is resolved fast by Davis Instruments of America, but out of my control.
I now note that the live update to my console has ceased so I am beginning to fear the problem might be with my station. Being a weekend the support system is not currently available.
The updating went down completely at 07.15. Thankfully, I have my older identical weather station from 2015, non-‘cloud’ system, as a back up, which reports identical data directly to a separate console and laptop. I keep both sets of full data, which on such occasions is a relief so I don’t lose information.
P.S. Davis Instruments just issued a notice that there is a problem with the WeatherLink iOS App. Let’s hope there is a fix soon. I am assured my data is secure!
