Windrush Weather

Alternate wet and dry days

Saturday 29th November
Friday was a pleasant late autumn day with spells of sunshine, especially in the morning, very bright, that boosted the temperature to a maximum of 12.0C at 12.42 being 1.7C above average. The topsy turvy, roller caster weather meant that the minimum over the past twenty-four hours was the temperature of 8.2C at 08.00. Having fallen away during the past evening the temperature began to rise again after 22.00 reaching 10.6C at 05.00 due to increasing cloud from the next weather front. The daily rainfall amounted to 7.6m.

Saturday struggled to come to life under thick, low cloud and steady rain. The first rain from the wide weather front arrived just before 06.00 and will continue until mid-morning when the sky will clear bringing us a sunny second part to the day.

A mini-depression formed across southern England during the night and is currently easing eastwards. The barometric pressure at 08.00 read 999.6mb and is currently falling rapidly due to the centre of the low-pressure being almost overhead our area. As the low relocates to the North Sea the wind will veer this evening into the northwest, which will bring much cooler weather on Sunday. The maximum on Sunday will be in low single digits that, combined with a brisk cool breeze, will produce a wind chill.

By Monday this will all have changed when the wind will have backed into the south late Sunday as a deep depression closes in, that will bring string winds and likely heavy rain on Monday, possibly all day. There is a Met Office Yellow Weather Warning for persistent, heavy rain on Monday.
