Clear skies overnight saw the thermometer plunge to 4.7C at 03.16, which was 5.4C below the average.
Saturday brought a glorious start to the day with sunshine from the start that lifted the temperature to 16.2C at 08.00 as the anticyclone intensified with the highest barometric pressure since the end of April.
