Windrush Weather

Warmest day for a month on Saturday

The nearby anticyclone meant a sunny and very warm day for October on Saturday. The thermometer rose to 22.8C, which was a significant 6.8C above the average and the warmest day since 11th September (22.9C). The overnight minimum of 10.1C was 2.9C above average.

Radiation fog formed in the valleys of the River Og and Kennet that thickened and spread by 07.15 but by 07.30 on Sunday there was a noticeable thinning but it had not totally evaporated until just after 08.00 as the sun rose. This fog formed over areas of water that means the air becomes saturated as the temperature falls. The anticyclone over France is still strong so another dry, warm and sunny day is in prospect.
