Monday 30th March
Sunday gave us a dry and bright morning but the cloud from the next weather front built up during the afternoon that produced light rain mid-afternoon and very brief precipitation early evening amounting to 1.6mm. The peak temperature of 9.2C was logged at 12.42 as the cloud began to thicken and the sunshine to disappear. The temperature dipped away slowly overnight resulting in a minimum of 4.6C at 05.25 early Monday being 2C above average.
Monday saw the sun shine weakly a few minutes after it rose above the horizon through thin high cloud from the hang back of cloud due to the weather front that passed during the night. As the morning progresses the cloud will thin further and become variable allowing, hopefully, much more sunshine to bring us a fine and warm day. The Azores high has begin to exert its influence with the barometric pressure beginning to recover with a reading of 1023.8mb at 08.00.
The next few days will bring us variable weather due to the stream of moist and relatively warm air that has travelled in from the Atlantic, gathering moisture on its journey. The forecast pressure charts indicate that the Azores high will dominate our weather for the next few days, but no heatwave, thanks the westerly breeze persisting for much of the week. Maxima will recover to around the early April average until Friday when they are likely to dip a couple of degrees under cloudy conditions and possible rain. The change will be due to a forecast deep depression that is likely to head towards Scotland, which will result in windy conditions as weather fronts once again visit the UK.
