Windrush Weather

Warm by day but very cool by night

The thermometer on Wednesday again rose well above the 38-year average (+2.8C) with a maximum of 17.4C. The last five days have brought very similar maxima, within 0.4C. It was not a dry day as 2.0mm of rainfall was recorded.

The clearing skies meant another very cool night with the minimum of 5.7C set at 07.04 on Thursday being 1.6C below the average.

Thursday began with weak sunshine but soon after 07.30 it gained in strength due to the ridge of high pressure currently over the UK with a barometric pressure reading of 1028.4mb at 08.00 making it the highest pressure since 8th August, so a fine, dry day in prospect. The wind is forecast to continue from the southwest quadrant.
