Sunday 5th April
During Saturday, areas of low cloud produced drizzle in the morning and afternoon that resulted in a minimal total of only 0.2mm. The maximum of 13.9C was exactly that recorded on Friday whilst the low of 6.4C was a degree lower. Storm Dave gave us a glancing blow with the wind increasing during the afternoon producing a peak gust of 33mph at 18.53, before slowly subsiding overnight.
Sunday arrived with total cloud from the hang back of cloud from weather fronts associated with Storm Dave. However, by 08.00 there were significant breaks in the cloud that allowed the sun to break through and shine strongly.
Storm Dave is now well on its way to Scandinavia. Behind the depression, the barometric pressure is rising rapidly, which will result in a distinct change in our weather. Today, Sunday, the wind will continue from a westerly point, which will mean near average temperatures with sunny intervals between variable cloud. However, As the pressure continues to rise under a ridge of high pressure, it will resist any weather fronts from approaching from the Atlantic. By Monday, as the anticyclone repositions to the east, the wind will back into the southeast or east-southeast that will bring a much warmer and drier air stream from the Continent. By Tuesday and Wednesday very warm sunny weather will have arrived with maxima well above average that will feel as if spring has arrived.
N.B. I am frustrated that although my recent weather station is recording, I presume, there is a problem with the transmission of my data to the cloud and back. Davis Instruments state, ‘there is an issue with the Weatherlink iOS app on recent Apple iOS 26.4 updates’. Sadly, there is still no live feed to the website and no indication when normal service will resume.
I am now using data from my previous weather station that transmits direct to my previous console, however, it does not have a UV sensor. When normal service is resumed I will be able to extract the recent data from the newer station, that I am assured, will still be on record.
