Windrush Weather

Low pressure slowly winning the battle

Thursday 30th April
N.B. The station has been off air for some unknown time overnight due to major upgrade at web hosting, thus brief, much later update today.

Wednesday was memorable for the very strong winds that rushed across the country on the strong northeasterly wind gusting to 31mph at its peak, logged at 16.04. The wall to wall sunshine lifted the temperature to 18.4C at 15.40 being 4.1C above average.. The past night was relatively mild with the thermometer not sinking below 8.1C early Thursday at 05.19.

We have another fine, sunny day ahead under the dominant high pressure with likely wall to wall sunshine. During the day the wind will back a few degrees to come from the south-southeast, a slightly warmer direction. This subtle change in the wind direction, combined with the wind less strong, will give us a very warm day.

The barometric pressure has been very slowly falling over the last few days, a minimal loss of another 2mb since yesterday. The high pressure is easing away to the east as low pressure slowly advances from the west. This will bring us unsettled weather arriving for the bank holiday with possible light rain Saturday evening into Sunday.
