Windrush Weather

December 2016 is currently second driest December since 1984

After another dry day and with little rainfall in the forecast for the remaining days of December, the total of 21.6mm makes December 2016 the second driest December since my records began in 1984. December 1988 had only 17.6mm with December 1991 in third place at 21.8mm.
Yesterday brought many hours of hazy sunshine and 2.8 hours of strong sunshine as the anticyclone intensified. This morning at 06.30, the barometric pressure peaked at 1042.7mb being the highest since December 29th 2014. The thermometer dropped steadily during the afternoon but with clear skies and still conditions overnight it is not surprising that the temperature plummeted after midnight to a minimum of -2.8C at 08.00.
