Wednesday gave us 7.48 hours of sunshine but the previous night’s hard frost, lying snow in the shade and cool westerly breeze mean that the thermometer struggled to reach a maximum of just 4.0C at 14.03, which was 3C below average.
Overnight the thermometer fell consistently to a minimum of -7.2C, recorded at 04.38 Thursday morning, since when it has risen slightly to read -6.2C at 08.00 this morning. It was the coldest night since 28th February 2018.
Thursday saw the sun shining in a clear sky as it crossed the horizon.
Update on Thursday at 16.00: thermometer struggled to get above freeing at midday then to a maximum currently of 1.9C. Cloud still high with humidity low at 84% indicating weather front & precipitation some way off as barometer continues to fall rapidly
