  • Another sunless and cooler day on Saturday

The thick cloud lasted all day on Saturday obscuring any sunshine, and that combined with the westerly breeze, a cooler direction, the thermometer rose to 10.2C being only 0.1C above average and the coolest day since the 5th.

It was another dry day, the eighth consecutive dry day.

The forecast cold front arrived late evening that saw the wind direction veer from the west to northwest and begin to pick up gently. The weather front cleared the south coast in the early hours leaving behind a much cooler airstream that saw the thermometer drop to 3.4C at dawn on Sunday being 0.4C below average.

Sunday arrived with welcome sunshine from a blue sky. Such a treat after the many gloomy days during the past week.

  • Another sunless day on Friday

Friday brought us the third sunless day this month as thick, low cloud persisted all day and night. The wind veered into the west and later northwest so a cooler day but the peak of 11.8C was still 1.6C above the average. The overnight minimum of 8.5C was also above average (+4.7C).

The barometric pressure has been easing downwards as the centre of the high pressure located further north. This change in position also affected the wind direction as later on Friday the breeze, which was very light, veered into the northwest.

Saturday arrived with very misty and moist conditions with visibility reduced to around 1500m.

  • Dry and mild again

Thursday gave us another mild and dry day with above average temperatures by day and night with a maximum of 12.C (+2.3C) and 10.4C (+6.6C) thanks to the east southwest air mass from the Atlantic.

The barometric pressure has risen still further, the centre now over Northern France, with a reading of 1031.6mb at 08.00 on Friday, the highest pressure since 11th October.

Friday dawned grey and calm with the air movement from the southwest and the warmest morning for a week.

  • Settled weather continues

Once again on Wednesday there was very little movement of air with a maximum movement of 10mph and often calm for long periods overnight.

The thermometer by day rose to 11.1c being 1C above average and dropped to 5.4C at 00.20 on Thursday morning, again above average (+1.6C). We have now enjoyed twelve consecutive days with above average maxima.

It was another dry day. The evaporation from ground sources and plant life is now the equivalent of 8.2mm of rainfall whilst the rainfall for November is only 8.9mm.

Thursday also began with total cloud cover and what wind movement there is is from the west. The barometric pressure is currently at its highest all month with a reading at 08.00 of 10.30.0mb

  • Another very calm day

Tuesday gave us another calm day with very light winds from the southwest, maximum head height speed of just 8mph, and mild. The temperature rose to 11.4C being 1.3C above the average.

It was the fourth consecutive dry day. Half way through the month the total rainfall is 8.9mm when the 37-year average is 91.7mm

The overnight minimum of 3.8C was exactly average and occurred at 07.00 on Wednesday.

Wednesday brought a little brightness just after dawn but cloud soon obscured the sun.
