Windrush Weather

There was a little recovery in the temperature on Wednesday, both above average, with a maximum of 11.3C (+1.2C) and a minimum of 5.4C (+1.7C).

Further rain was recorded amounting to 3.0mm that took the total to 113.9mm. This is 24mm above the long-term average but still well short of the record rainfall in 2002 that totalled 203mm.

Thursday arrived with a little brightness as the weak sun tried to break through the thin cloud cover.

The wind will come from the southwest today thanks to a complex weather system just off the northwest coast of Scotland that contains not one but four centres of low pressure. The whole system is slowly rotating anticlockwise, hence the wind backing from west yesterday to southwest today.

A cold front containing a further rain band, narrower than yesterday, is due to cross our area this afternoon.
