The southerly airstream has brought very warm air from the Azores that gave us the warmest day for almost a month with a maximum of 12.7C, which is 5C above the mean for December. Not surprisingly, the overnight minimum was also well above the mean with a low of 9.7C. This occurred just before 8pm last night but there followed fluctuations of the temperature but at 0800 the thermometer read 11.7C, the warmest morning since 15th November
There was a little sunshine yesterday amounting to 0.73 hours but no rain. The wind has picked up after several fairly calm days with a maximum gust of 21mph that was recorded yesterday afternoon and again just before dawn.
