The northwesterly wind meant clearer and cooler air yesterday so it is not surprising that the maximum was below the average (22.3C) for early July at 20.8C. With clear skies overnight and the air from the northwest, the thermometer dropped consistently to a minimum of 5.9C at 05.35, the coldest night since 26th May. This morning broke with hazy sunshine and the temperature recovering to 12.3C at 08.00. The ridge of high-pressure indicates another dry day today with diminishing sunshine as cloud builds from the west.
