The ridge of high pressure (maximum this month) brought a high of 17.4C yesterday and 8.1 hours of bright sunshine. A welcome improvement after the considerable rainfall of previous days.
The mean daytime temperature for the first half of May is 1.5C below the long-term average whereas the nighttime mean is just above average.
Clear skies meant that the thermometer dropped overnight to a minimum of 4.8C.
The UV level was the highest this year at 6.6.
