No overnight air frost but still cold by day

Yesterday was the seventh successive below average maximum with a high of 10.9C (mean is 14.3C). This was tempered by strong winds gusting to 23mph. The cloud cover overnight meant that there was no air frost but it was chilly with a minimum of 2.6C. Today dawned with weak sunshine that at 08.00 had broken through thin cloud to produce strong sunshine. The rainfall for the past twenty-four hours totalled 2.7mm that mainly fell last evening.
