What a glorious day yesterday was? The thermometer soared to a maximum of 15.1C just before 2.30pm, the warmest day 31st October, and 5C above the mean for March. There were 5.36 hours of strong sunshine within which the UV level rose to 3.0, the strongest UV since 1st October last year. The strongest breeze was a maximum of 16mph, the quietest day this month, all due to the temporary ridge if high pressure.
The clear sky before midnight allowed the thermometer to drop to a minimum of 3.9 at 00.12 but increasing cloud reversed the downward trend so that at 08.00 the thermometer read 7.9C. This morning the cloud base has been gradually lowering with visibility down to 1,000m at 08.00
