The weather on Friday and Thursday contrasted like chalk and cheese. After the blue skies and almost seven hours of sunshine on Thursday, the warm front crossing the UK on Friday brought over eight hours of rain that in total measured 10.9mm. A brisk south-easterly wind, maximum 18mph, and the thick, low cloud kept the temperature down to a maximum of 9.9C, just below the average for March.
This morning is a great improvement with thin, high cloud allowing weak sunshine at 08.00. The thermometer dropped to a low of 4.2C just before 7.30am.
