Coolest day since 1st August

With thick cloud and frequent showers it was not surprising that the maximum temperature yesterday was 19.4C, making the coolest day since 1st August and 1C below the mean. The rainfall for the past twenty-four hours totalled 5.3mm, which brings the rainfall for August to 30.5mm that is 46% of the mean for the month.
Just before 02.30 a peak gust of wind at 26mph was recorded, the strongest this month, as the atmospheric pressure is at its lowest for August as the unusually deep depression crosses the country.
