A heavy but brief squall produced 2.8mm of rain late afternoon.

Both maximum and minimum were above average with 16.6C (+2C) and 9.6C (+2.3C) respectively.

  • Sunday was the warmest and calmest day this month

The sun returned on sunday with 3.99 hours of strong sunshine. This, combined with light winds, maximum gust of 10 mph, pushed the thermometer to 17.0C, which was 2.4C above the 33-year average and the warmest day since 28th September.

Variable cloud this morning is allowing occasional weak sunshine to percolate through the gaps.

Saturday can best be described as grey with a damp morning followed by a dry and brighter afternoon.

There was intermittent drizzle in the morning until midday, amounting to 0.3mm, after which the sky brightened but with no sunshine. However, the improvement in the afternoon lifted the temperature to 1.2C above average with a maximum of 15.8C.

We enjoyed 6.5 hours of strong sunshine, that combined with the lightest winds this month, maximum gust of 15 mph, produced a very pleasant autumnal day.

The thermometer slowly fell in the afternoon and early evening to a minimum of 7.9C just before 11pm, but with the advancing cloud from the next, weak weather front, reversed this trend so that by 08.00 the thermometer had risen to 12.2C.
