At 0800 the air temperature was 8.6C, the warmest morning this month. The soil temperature, at a depth of 5cm, was 7.2C also the highest this month.

Sun’s strength increasing with longer hours of sunshine and greater UV light
Yesterday brought 7.9 hours of sunshine and an increased value for ultra-violet light. This boosted the maximum temperature with a maximum of 11.2C, almost 1C above the long-term average. The 7th has been the warmest this month with a maximum of 14.3C.
The start to the month has been very dry with a total of 3.6mm for the first ten days. -
First day without sunshine for a fortnight
The overcast and moist day yesterday gave us no sunshine, minimal precipitation and the lowest solar energy since 13th February, after an overnight ground frost.
This morning there was a little valley fog before sunrise as the air temperature dipped to 1.5C. -
Warmest day for four months
Yesterday was the warmest day since November 2nd with a maximum of 14.1C. There was also a high level of UV light, the highest since early October.

Warmest day for two months
With a peak of 12.1C yesterday it was the warmest day since 9th January. The anticyclone also provided another 6 hours of sunshine bringing the total for this month to almost 33 hours of strong sunshine.
