Windrush Weather

  • Hottest day for a month

Yesterday the strong sunshine (6.66 hours) boosted the temperature to a maximum of 25.2C that with light winds, which had a maximum gust of 14mph, felt more like summer. The lack of rainfall over the past week and high temperatures meant that the humidity at 08.00 was low for early morning at 72%.
Thin, variable cloud cover this morning is obscuring the sun that is trying to get through with a temperature of 14.8C at 08.00 in still wind conditions.

  • Hottest day since early May

After a cloudy, misty start yesterday, the sun broke through with 9.0 hours of strong sunshine and light winds, maximum gust of just 13mph. The maximum temperature on sunday was 23.1C with UV rated at ‘Very High’. Overnight the thermometer dropped back to 11.8C followed by intermittent sunshine this morning, around variable cloud, which has boosted the temperature to 16.1C at 08.00.

  • Temperatures recovering

Although no sunshine was recorded yesterday due to the persistent thick cloud, it was a much warmer day with a maximum of 18.8C and light winds, maximum gust of just 12mph. It was a much warmer night than of late, the warmest for almost a month, due to the cloud cover and mist with visibility down to 1500 metres with a minimum of 12.2C.

  • All change – at last

After another day, which was predominantly cloudy with the persistent fresh winds from a north-easterly direction, the weather changed overnight. The peak temperature yesterday of 14.3C (average is 18C) was reached just before 6.30pm after the sun broke through late afternoon. The minimum occurred around midnight after which the thermometer slowly rose to reach 12.3C at 08.00, the warmest morning for a week. The morning broke with fog from low cloud with visibility down to 500 metres. Currently the wind has fallen out, the air is moist and feels much warmer as the temperature slowly rises due to the fog slowly lifting.

  • Still that nagging north wind

Again yesterday the thick cloud persisted for much of the day but during the late afternoon there were breaks that gave 1.2 hours of strong sunshine. The maximum of 15.4C was 3C below the average of 18C for early June but better than the 12C maximum of wednesday. Overnight the cloud has returned, the strong northerly wind, gusting to 25 mph, continues that the wind chill makes it feel more like 7C at 08.00 after a minimum of 8.4C.
