  • Coldest day and night this month with air frost

The thermometer only reached 15.1C on Monday due to a brisk northerly breeze. This high was still 0.5C above the average.

The temperatures dropped rapidly overnight due to the colder air stream from the north and totally clear skies. The minimum of -0.3C was logged at 06.04 on Tuesday producing a ground first and the first air frost of the season.

The sun shone brightly after dawn with the barometric pressure having recovered that should produce a fine, dry day.

Rain began to fall just after midnight when a cold weather front crossed the area and as it traversed eastwards the wind veered from the south into the north, there was also a drop of 2C in the air temperature. The wind gusted to 24mph in the rain squalls.

Monday dawned dull with total cloud cover from the hang back of cloud from the weather front and the wind quite brisk from the north.
