  • Brightest morning for a week.

    Today dawned with bright skies and weak sunshine. Clearing skies in the early morning brought the thermometer down to a minimum of 6.0C. Yesterday, due to the continuing northerly airflow, was a calm, dry and cool day with a maximum of 11.9C, which is more than 2C below the long-term average.

  • Yesterday was slightly warmer, slightly brighter and dry

    Sunday was a little warmer with brief sunshine late afternoon lifting the temperature to 13.3C maximum, still below the mean for October. Wind strength was the lowest for ten days with a maximum of 14mph. It was the eleventh continuous day without rainfall.

  • Maximum 3C below mean

    Saturday was another cool, cloudy and dry day. The maximum was reached mid-afternoon at 11.3C, some 3C below the long-term average. On a scale of 0 – 10 the maximum UV level was for the second consecutive day just 1.2, the lowest since 16th March. Over half way through the month the total rainfall is 32mm, which is 36% of the long-term average.

  • Week ends with thick cloud and no sunshine.

    There have been nine consecutive days without rainfall and over the last few days reducing quantities of sunshine. The maxima for the last five days have all been below the average for October due to the persistent northerly winds.

  • Fog again after glorious sunshine yesterday

    Fog, down to 200m, formed in the early hours today. This followed the warm day yesterday with a maximum of 16.2C, which gave us 6.88 hours of strong sunshine with light winds – maximum of 11mph.
