  • 25 days of consecutive rainfall, 2 dry days and then back to rain!

    After twenty-five consecutive days with rainfall followed by two days with sunshine, 1.95 hours on saturday, it is back to cold and rain again today. The minimum was -1.9C on saturday but the thermometer stayed just above freezing last night.

  • Sunniest day for three months

    Friday brought the sunniest day since 8th October with 6.16 hours of strong sunshine. With the barometer at its highest for a month and clearing skies overnight it was not surprising to find a sharp air frost occurred with a minimum of -1.9C at dawn, the first air frost this month. Yesterday, with a maximum of 4.6C, was the coldest day for two months.

  • Thursday was coldest and sunniest this month

    Today, thursday, was the sunniest this month with 3.36 hours of strong sunshine, the highest daily solar value and the coldest day since the end of November with a maximum of 4.8C. The UV value was the highest for a month.

  • Barometric pressure rises continuously for two days

    After eleven days with a succession of depressions passing over or around the UK it is good to see the barometric pressure rising steadily over the last two days, the highest since 1st January. This has brought a clearing sky overnight and a light ground frost (minimum of 0.6C) with the wind dropping out after a peak of 28mph around 8pm last night. There have now been twenty-four continuous days with rainfall and another 3.4mm yesterday afternoon.

  • First below maximum for almost two months

    Yesterday the wind veered into the west after so any days with southerly winds. As a result the maximum was 5.9C, the first below average maximum since 28th November.
