  • Warmest day for two months

    The tropical air pushed the maximum temperature yesterday to 12.9C when the mean is 7.1C. The thermometer fell steadily during the evening and night to a minimum of 6.6C. An additional 4.5mm of rainfall was recorded, which brings the total for February to 67.3mm, just 2mm above the mean.

  • Tropical air brings exceptional temperatures

    The tropical air now over the country has brought mild, breezy and moist weather. The maximum yesterday was 11.1C, 4c above the long-term average but the minimum of 10.C was almost 9C above the 33-year average. There was 3.3mm of rainfall bringing the total for February of 62.8mm, close to the average of 65.3mm.

  • Milder with return of southerly winds

    The winds having backed into the south brought milder and moist air. Yesterday the maximum was above the mean at 8.9C with a minimum of 8.0C overnight. Last evening there was a little precipitation amounting to 0.4mm.

  • Sunniest day for four months

    Yesterday was a glorious day with blue skies for most of the daylight hours and 7.11 hours of strong sunshine making it the sunniest day since 2nd October. The maximum temperature was 7.2C, about average for February but the clear skies overnight meant another air frost with a minimum of -1.2C.

  • Twelve hours of rainfall

    Yesterday the southerly winds produced twelve hours of continuous rainfall totalling 10.7mm, which brings the monthly total to 59.1mm or 91% of the long-term average. In the early hours of this morning the slow moving front eventually cleared, the wind veered into a north-westerly direction and the thermometer dropped to its lowest at 08.00 with a minimum of 0.9C after a high yesterday of 5.2C.
