  • Wind chill returns

    With winds persisting and increasing from an easterly direction over the last twenty-four hours the temperature at 0800 was 1.8C but felt like -1C taking into account the wind chill factor. There was minimal strong sunshine yesterday (0.13 hours) following the many hours enjoyed on previous days to act upon the temperature.

  • North-easterly breeze brings drier air

    The wind has veered a little more into the north-east, which brought a much drier air, only 80% at 0800, and a maximum of 4.9C yesterday. There was no overnight air frost but a slight grass frost, not very evident due to the much lower moisture content of the air mass. The highest UV level (1.9) was recorded since mid-October.

  • Frost gets harder but glorious sunshine

    Yesterday brought 6.91 hours of strong sunshine, the second highest this month and a maximum of 6.2C, just below the mean for February. The clear skies overnight meant another hard air frost with a minimum of -4.1C just after 3am. The light winds yesterday, with a maximum of 11mph, dropped out overnight.

  • Hard frost after sunshine

    There were 3.5 hours of welcome strong sunshine yesterday with varying cloud amounts and light winds. As the evening and night progressed the clear skies meant a hard air frost with a minimum of -3.7C.

  • Change again as cooler air sweeps across the country

    Yesterday the wind veered into the north-west and brought cooler, clearer air with a minimum of 0.8C producing a slight grass frost overnight. The sun did briefly break through around midday giving us 0.42 hours of strong sunshine.
