  • Warmest night for a month

    After another sunny day with a maximum of 23.6C the cloud cover kept the overnight temperature high with a minimum of 12.5C, the warmest for a month. The falling barometer over the past twenty-four hours, the lowest reading for two weeks, indicates a change in the weather pattern.
    The hot dry weather over the past week has meant that the soil temperature at a depth of 5cm is at its highest with a reading of 17.7C at 08.00 today.

  • Hottest day of year

    With clearer skies yesterday there was more strong sunshine that boosted the thermometer to 25.3C, the hottest day of the year and equal to 8th May maximum. The winds from an north-easterly direction were very light, maximum gust of 11mph, or totally still for much of the day. Overnight the fog has descended with visibility this morning down to 100m at dawn, which is slowly lifting at 08.00 with the temperature at 12.5C, the coolest for several days.

  • Another hot and sunny day

    With 13.3 hours of global sunshine yesterday the temperature was raised to a maximum of 24.8C, a shade below the previous day. The sunshine was never strong, with UV level falling back to the ‘High’ category, but with very light winds or often still conditions it felt hot.
    This morning broke with fog that gave visibility down to 200m but quickly evaporated as the sun broke through although variable cloud has arrived. The temperature at 08.00 was 15.9C, the second warmest this month.

  • Hottest day for a month

    Yesterday the strong sunshine (6.66 hours) boosted the temperature to a maximum of 25.2C that with light winds, which had a maximum gust of 14mph, felt more like summer. The lack of rainfall over the past week and high temperatures meant that the humidity at 08.00 was low for early morning at 72%.
    Thin, variable cloud cover this morning is obscuring the sun that is trying to get through with a temperature of 14.8C at 08.00 in still wind conditions.

  • Hottest day since early May

    After a cloudy, misty start yesterday, the sun broke through with 9.0 hours of strong sunshine and light winds, maximum gust of just 13mph. The maximum temperature on sunday was 23.1C with UV rated at ‘Very High’. Overnight the thermometer dropped back to 11.8C followed by intermittent sunshine this morning, around variable cloud, which has boosted the temperature to 16.1C at 08.00.
