Yesterday was a bright day with a little strong sunshine, but notable was the UV level rated very high, the highest this year but not unexpected the day before the summer solstice. After two weeks with calm conditions strong gusts to 26mph were recorded after midnight in the showers. The rainfall for the past twenty-four hours amounted to 6.6mm bringing the total for June to 26.1mm that is 47% of the June mean.

Coldest night this month
A predominantly cloudy day yesterday, after a bright start, eventually saw brief strong sunshine in the early evening, which boosted the temperature to a maximum of 18.9C just before 7pm. A clear sky overnight meant that it was the coldest night this month, equal to that on the 3rd, with a minimum of 8.1C. Yesterday was a dry day that followed the pattern of eight consecutive dry days followed by eight consecutive days with measurable rainfall.

Another damp day but no storms
The pressure has been rising for two days as the low pressure system looses its effect. Yesterday brought several light showers totalling 1.9mm but the storms continue to bypass Marlborough, thankfully. There were 1.46 hours of strong sunshine that boosted the temperature to 19.4C, average for June, but overnight the thermometer dropped to 10.6C, the coolest night for ten days. The total rainfall for June now stands at 19.5mm, which is 35% of the June average.

No storms but sunshine
Whilst storms were breaking out over southern England yesterday Marlborough had a dry day with sunshine, raising the temperature to 20.3C. Light rain began to fall late evening with a modest total of 2.5mm. This morning is cloudy with intermittent light rain or drizzle after a mild night when the thermometer did not drop below 12.5C.

Wettest day for a month
Intermittent showers during the daylight hours yesterday produced a total of 8.3mm, the wettest day since 10th May, the majority of which fell during a very heavy shower mid-afternoon. In between the showers there was some sunshine and the UV level nudged a little higher, again in the very high category.
