The barometric pressure has dropped to 1005mb, the lowest reading this month as a low pressure system covers the country. Winds yesterday afternoon gusted to 24mph and short sharp showers occurred late afternoon amounting to 1.3mm. There was some strong sunshine amounting to 0.59 hours, which lifted the temperature to a maximum of 22.1C but much cloud cover meant that the UV level dropped back from very high to high.

Warmest day & night this month
Although there was no strong sunshine yesterday the warm, moist southerly winds pushed the temperature to 23.0C, the warmest day this month and as the previous night, cloud cover meant a very warm night with a minimum of 16.3C, which is 5C above the average.
Light drizzle and rain, from a narrow weather front passing central England just after 05.00, produced 0.4mm of precipitation. -
Another mild night and warmest morning since July 2015
Two consecutive, very similar days with modest strong sunshine yesterday amounting to 2.12 hours and a maximum of 21.3C, which is 1C below the average for July. The cloud cover overnight meant another very mild night with a minimum of 14.4C but by 08.00 the thermometer had risen to 16.8C, the warmest morning at this time since July 22nd 2015. Not surprisingly, the soil temperature at a depth of 5cm at 08.00, has risen to its highest temperature this year at 17.5C.

Warmest night for almost a year
Although there was limited strong sunshine yesterday the indirect sunshine, and a light southerly breeze, pushed the thermometer to its highest reading for a month with a maximum of 22.1C, about average for July. The UV level again reached the very high category. Cloud overnight stopped the earth radiating heat into space and gave us the warmest night since August 2015 with minimum of 14.6C. There was a little light rain and drizzle around 5pm yesterday.

Very mild night after another day with a very high UV level
Another dry day with variable sunshine, little wind (maximum gust of only 10mph) and the UV level returning to the very high category. The cloud cover overnight gave a very mild night when the thermometer did not drop below 12.3C.
