Yesterday brought 2.56 hours of strong sunshine, although the UV level at 1.8 is in the low category. The maximum yesterday was 12.3C, again below average.The northeasterly breeze freshened to give a maximum gust of 28mph in the afternoon. The thermometer started to fall after 3.00pm and continued overnight, but not as cold as previous nights, with a minimum of 6.7C, the warmest night for a week.
This morning a weather front started to cross our area and light rain began to fall just after 6.00am.

Friday was the coldest day this month
Yesterday produced a maximum of 11.6C, the coldest day in October. The barometer has been slowly dropping for forty-eight hours with a low of 1011.9mb at 08.00 with the wind again veering now into a cool northeasterly direction. The minimum overnight, just after 2.00am was 5.7C as cloud drifted in on the light breeze from the east. There was limited sunshine of 0.69 hours with another dry day.
The breeze has been increasing since just after 2.00am today with a high of 23mph at 13.10, the strongest gust since the beginning of the month. -
Temperatures continue to fall
The wind has veered into the north and although light in strength, maximum of 13mph yesterday, meant both maximum and minimum temperatures were lower then the previous day at 12.3C and 4.3C, 2C and 3C below the average respectively. Another dry day, fifteen so far this month, and only 25.5mm of rainfall (28.7%). Fog is evident this morning and varies between 200m and 1100m visibility.

Day and night temperatures now depressed
With a persistent northwesterly breeze it is not surprising that temperatures were below average yesterday and overnight. The maximum yesterday was 12.9C, about 2C below average, but late afternoon the thermometer began to drop and reached a minimum of 4.4c at 01.56, but recovered a couple of degrees as cloud cover arrived. There was minimal sunshine yesterday, 0.41 hours, and no precipitation.

Chilly winds return
The northwesterly winds brought down the maximum temperature again yesterday to a 12.8C, which is 2C below the average. However, it was another dry day with 1.2 hours of strong sunshine that total 82 hours so far this month. The average rainfall for October is 88.1mm but the rainfall to date is just 25.5mm.
