A dry day with some sunshine but still cool
No measurable rainfall fell yesterday and we enjoyed 2.5 hours of strong sunshine. However, temperatures were still depressed with a maximum of 17.8C, about 5C below the average.
Overnight the thermometer dropped steadily to register a low of 8.2C around 6.00am, which is almost 6C below the average July minimum. -
Yet more rain!
Another wet and overcast day yesterday brought an additional 10.5mm of rainfall, which brings the total for July to 89mm, this is 148% of the long-term average. This dismal weather was brought by a depression with the lowest atmospheric pressure for two months at 996.5mb.

Nearly eight hours of sunshine after deluge and today the rain returns!
Yesterday brought much relief after the second wettest July day with 7.7 hours of strong sunshine and no rainfall. The cool north-westerly winds reduced the influence of the sun with a maximum of only 20.3C, which is 2C below the July average. This morning continuous heavy rainfall started again just before 8.00am.

The rain lasted for over 16 continuous hours yesterday and amounted to 33.5mm, which was the second wettest July day since records began in 1984. The record was set on 31st July 2002 with 40.1mm. The total rainfall for July is now 78.5mm, this is 131% of the long-term average.
The maximum temperature was 13.2C that is 9C below the average for July.
