  • Humid overcast days with drizzle

    Yesterday was marked by the high levels of humidity and occasional drizzle but not amounting to significant rainfall (0.9mm). The thick cloud overnight meant a mild night with a minimum of 14.9C and the damp, humid air still present with little wind.

  • Wettest day this month

    After a brief glimse of strong sunshine (0.11 hours) early yesterday morning the cloud drifted in and by midday the rain had started. The rainfall was almost continuous until just after 0200 producing a total rainfall of 13.4mm making it the wettest day this month. The total rainfall for August now stands at 38.4mm ((58%). The thick cloud overnight meant that the thermometer did not drop below 13.8C.

  • Coldest morning at 0800 for almost three months

    The temperature at 0800 this morning was 8.4C after a minimum of 6.5C just before dawn. The previous three days were interesting in their similarity. The maximums were within about 1C, with similar solar energy totals for each day, also within one hour of indirect sunshine totals and no precipitation.

  • Cold night followed by coldest morning for two months

    Last night the minimum recorded was 5.3C just before dawn. With sunrise much later than in mid-summer, it meant that the temperature at 0800 was the lowest for two months at 9.5C. After two days with no strong sunshine, yesterday produced 4.7 hours.

  • Coolest day this month

    Yesterday produced the coolest day this month with a maximum of 16.5C, almost 5C below the long-term average. The rainfall was 9.6mm bringing the total this month to 25mm (average is 65.7mm). The continuous rain all morning and thick cloud, which lasted for most of the day, meant that there was no strong sunshine for the second day running.
