The rainfall total for the last twenty-four hours amounted to 15.2mm, the wettest day since 24th July, with the bulk of the precipitation falling mainly in the morning. Not surprisingly with so much cloud cover, it was also a very cool day with a maximum of only 15.5C some 3C below the mean for September.

Lowest barometric pressure for eight months
The barometric pressure has been falling for nearly two days and at 0800 this morning registered 992.6mb. This is the lowest pressure since January 31st 2015 when if fell to 981.2mb. The collection of low pressure areas is close by and is currently producing heavy showers, 2mm in the last fifteen minutes.

Touch of summer comes to an end
After six consecutively dry days, rainfall overnight amounted to 1.5mm, the wettest day this month. The last two days brought increased sunshine and maximum temperatures above the mean at 21.1C and 20.9C.

Sunniest day since June
Yesterday was almost a summer day in early autumn. With 12.18 hours of strong sunshine, the greatest since 30th June, and a maximum temperature of 18.8C, it was a glorious day. The night was not quite so cold as the previous one with a minimum of 3.3C.

Coldest night since April
Yesterday the cool northerly wind brought a mostly cloudy day, little sunshine (0.23 hours) and a maximum of only 14.7C, some 4C below the average. With a clear sky overnight the thermometer plummeted until at dawn reaching a low of 1.8C, the lowest since April 27th.
