  • Sunshine replaced by rain

    After two fine days with warm sunshine and light winds, the barometer has dropped 12mb over the past twenty-four hours bringing more unsettled weather with rain arriving just after 0800 this morning.

  • Fog early precedes warm, dry and sunny day.

    Yesterday and today arrived with fog down to less than 200 metres. Yesterday as the sun broke through the temperature rose to a maximum of 19.1c, above the mean for September, this combined with little wind (maximum gust of just 8mph) produced a lovely day. The hours of strong sunshine measured 5.6, the highest for a fortnight.

  • Sunniest day this week.

    Yesterday brought relief from the wet and windy weather on wednesday with 4.7 hours of strong sunshine and a dry day, just a light shower early this morning amounting to 0.3mm. The maximum temperature yesterday was higher at 17.1C, but still below the September mean.

  • Nine hours of heavy rainfall

    After a sunny start with 1.17 hours of strong sunshine, the depression moved over the area and rainfall started just before 14.00. The rainfall measured 19.3mm bringing the total for the month to 39.3mm.
    The maximum temperature reached 14.9C (mean is 18.8C) at 13.00 as the approaching cloud then caused the thermometer to drop and most of the afternoon was as low as 10C.

  • A little sunshine yesterday lifted temperatures in the afternoon

    Yesterday, as the morning thick cloud and light shower (0.1mm) moved away, almost two hours of strong sunshine in the afternoon lifted the maximum temperature to 17.7C. Almost one hour of strong sunshine this morning gave a bright start to the day before the rain and strong wind return.
