The anticyclone over the country has intensified to the highest reading since the beginning of April at 1036.6mb. Last night was not as cold as previous nights with a minimum of 3.8C. Yesterday brought another very sunny day with 8.94 hours of strong sunshine.

Another cold night
The thermometer dropped overnight to a low of 1.4C at 0715 due to clear skies and no wind. After the 9.7 hours of strong sunshine yesterday, today we have had many additional hours with a maximum temperature of 17.6C. The barometer has started to drop from a high of 1034mb just after midday, this being the highest barometric pressure since June.

Coldest night since mid-May
The clear sky overnight, a rising barometer for two days and air from a northerly direction meant that the thermometer tumbled to a low of 2.6C at 0726 giving a grass frost. This meant that at 0800 today it was the coldest morning since April.

Sunniest day since 6th September
Today was a glorious day with 6.94 hours of strong sunshine, which lifted the temperature to a maximum of 16.6C at 1600.

Fourteen days of rainfall but still below mean for month
There have been fourteen days this with measurable rainfall, early this morning added another 1.9mm. The total for September is now 52.0mm, which is 84% of the mean for the month over the past 31 years.
Yesterday, although we had 4.43 hours of welcome strong sunshine, the maximum reached was 16.9C, almost 2C below the mean for September.
