Windrush Weather

Weak ridge will give fine days

The recovery from the very damp day on Wednesday continued on Thursday, which was dry and often sunny that pushed the thermometer to 22.1C at 14.57 being 0.7C above my 40-year average. After the very dull day on Wednesday when the UV level at its peak only reached a ‘Moderate’ level (3.5), Thursday recorded a value of 7.7, which was just into the ‘Very High’ category.

The past night saw the thermometer slowly fall away to reach a minimum of 11.7C at 06.02 early Friday being just 0.1C below my long-term average.

Friday revealed a splendid, sunny start to the new day from blue skies that saw the thermometer recover to 14.8C at 08.00. The very light breeze is currently from a northerly direction but as the morning progresses this will slowly back into the west.

The recent depression, now to the north, is losing its control as a weak ridge of high pressure eases in from the southwest with the barometric pressure lifting another mb since yesterday with a reading of 1016.6mb at 08.00.
