Wednesday 5th November
The flow of warm and moist air continued on Tuesday that resulted in the thermometer reaching a maximum of 15.7C at 13.25. This high was 5.4C above average and made it the warmest day since 8th October. As on previous nights the cloud cover meant another mild night with little variation in temperatures during the nighttime. Unusually, the minimum was logged during Tuesday evening, rather than at the end of the night, with a low of 12.8C, being a significant 8.8C above average. However, there was little variation during the night with the thermometer edging upwards to reach 13.3C by 08.00 on Wednesday. There were sporadic light showers, especially during the late evening, that amounted to 3.2mm.
The start to Wednesday revealed a mainly cloudy beginning to the new day with no sunshine as a large area of cloud arrived on a southeasterly breeze.
The old anticyclone to the east is still weakly fending off the worst of the weather trying to edge in from the Atlantic with several low pressure systems circling the UK.
I have now remembered to reset the time on the website after the clocks changed at the end of last month!
For those celebrating bonfire night and setting off fireworks over the next few days the evenings are likely to be predominantly dry. I will attach a few appropriate images of fireworks for the next few days.
