Under the influence of the the southeast and south very light breeze on Saturday the thermometer rose to 18.3C being 4.2C above the average and the warmest day since 29th October. The airstream continues from around the Azores. It was also a mild night with the thermometer not dropping below 4.8C being 1.1C above the 39-year average.
Sunday arrived with weak sunshine and light mist. A rain band is just to the west of the region and bringing cloud in front of it. The bulk of the rain appears to be in the Bristol and Bath area with the heaviest of the rain siding northeastwards, with minimal precipitation in our area.
The soil temperature at a depth of 5cm read 10.7C at 08.00, which is the warmest it has been since 15th November. As there is now sufficient warmth in the ground for seeds to germinate and no frost in the forecast it is suitable for gardeners to get to work.
