Saturday 24th January
There is little new to say about the weather we experienced yesterday, that in many respects was similar to several previous days. There was more rain, which amounted to 3.8mm, and a maximum of 7.9C, that was 0.8C above average, and a minimum of 5.7C at 03.01 early Saturday being 4.5C above average.
Once again there was a minimal diurnal range of temperatures between day and night with a variation of just 2.2C.
Saturday began bright but it won’t be long before the clouds thicken and rain arrives later in the morning. The barometric pressure is still very low with a reading of 989.6mb at 08.00, as Storm Ingrid is quite close with a centre pressure of 975mb. The air this morning is a little less humid than of late with a reading of 87% at 08.00, the lowest since the 2nd January.
Storm Ingrid is still lurking around the western approaches to the UK giving the West Country a very wet and windy few days. The depression will very slowly migrate a little further north, towards Ireland although we will still be under it’s influence with unsettled weather for a few days. The wind will continue from the southeast until Monday when it will back a few degrees to come from a more easterly quadrant in mid-week. However, there appears to be little evidence at the moment for any severe cold weather to arrive over southern England in the near future.
