Windrush Weather

Summer at last!

Thursday felt like summer at last as the many hours of strong sunshine boosted the temperature to 25.8C at 16.04. This was 3.2C above the 39-year average and the warmest day since 7th July (27.9C). The warm, moist air continued overnight giving us a muggy, very warm night. The thermometer did not drop below 17.2C, which was 5.4C above the average and the warners night since 3rd August 2022.

Friday was initially overcast with some brightness but by 07.30 the sun began to shine strongly between breaks in the cloud. The ridge of high pressure is beginning to fall away, 2mb over the last day, which will see the a lower maximum temperature today and the wind veering into the southwest after south for much of Thursday.
