What a difference a change in wind direction makes

The wind having veered into a southerly direction has brought more humid weather and mild nights. Yesterday morning was dominated by thick cloud with drizzle and light rain that amounted to 1.2mm. However, as the afternoon progressed the cloud thinned and the sun broke through with 3.64 hours of strong sunshine that boosted the thermometer to a maximum of 20.7C and gave the highest UV reading, in the ‘Very High’ category, this year. The barometer continues to drop, a reading of 1002mb at 08.00, indicating the approaching low pressure system. The wind has started to pick up after the recent very calm days with a maximum gust of 18mph, the strongest gust for ten days.
