Variation in temperature of 14C. Mild air out, cool air in!

Monday started with some brightness but the approaching narrow weather front produced drizzle and light rain between 10.45 and 13.30, amounting to 1.1mm.

The replacement of the Tropical Maritime air by a cooler air mass began just after 15.00 yesterday as the wind veered from the southwest into the northwest.

The maximum temperature yesterday of 10.7C, being 4C above the average, occurred at 13.57. From that time until 08.00 this morning, the thermometer fell away continuously for 18 hours, producing a minimum of -3.3C at 08.00 this morning, a fall of 14C. This was the first air frost for 10 days.

This was the coldest night since 13th December under clear skies brought about by the high barometric pressure of 1032.1mb, the highest since 23rd December.

This morning has dawned with minimal cloud and a strengthening sun, triggering the sunshine recorder at 08.40.
