Friday brought us 3.2 hours of welcome sunshine. Although the wind was from the northwest, a cooler quarter and brisk gusting to 21mph, the thermometer rose to a maximum of 9.2C being 2.2C above average.
The clearer skies initially during Friday evening allowed the thermometer to fall away to a minimum of 2.2C at 21.35 (1.1C above average) but increasing cloud cover meant the temperature slowly rose to 4.7C at dawn on Saturday when broken cloud was evident.
A ridge of high pressure is likely to keep rain away on Saturday as the barometer was high with a reading of 1033.8mb at 08.00
