Another sunless day on Thursday and heavy overnight rain

Although we did not enjoy any sunshine on Thursday the thermometer rose just above average (+0.6C) with a peak of 15.1C in the brisk southerly wind. The wind picked up in the evening gusting to 32mph, the strongest since 30th September. It was the sixth sunless day this month.

A minor rain band brought rain at 2150 for a brief period however the main rain band started just before midnight that raised the daily total 11.8mm resulting in a monthly total of 103.2mm being 18mm above the 37-year average.

Due to the cloud cover it was another mild night with he minimum of 12.0C being 5C above average.

There was a brief lull immediately before dawn but heavy rain began to fall again at 0750 as narrow band of heavy rain passed over the area.
