Cooler night but still above average

The southerly air flow boosted the temperature to a maximum of 19.2C being 2.1C above average making it feel very warm in the afternoon.

The warm air flow continued overnight producing a mild night, some 5C down on the previous night with a minimum of 8.7C, but still 1.6C above average.

Strong sunshine was in evidence after dawn with variable thin cloud, a light wind and the temperature recovering to 14.9C at 08.00.

Update on Saturday at 16.40: thermometer rose to a maximum of 25.6C at 15.32, making this the hottest day since 7th August.
