The short lived ridge of high pressure on Friday gave us 2 hours of sunshine before cloud again spoilt the afternoon. However, the sign that the sun is slowly gaining strength was the UV level at 0.9, still low, but the highest since 23rd November.
Irrespective of the sunshine, the wind from a cooler westerly direction meant that the temperature only reached a peak of 6.8C, the lowest for a week but average for January. It was a dry day.
Overnight the light cloud cover meant that the thermometer dropped to 1.3C at 02.47 this morning, giving a short-lived ground frost, before rising to 4.3C at 08.00 as cloud built up from the next advancing weather front with moisture in the air at that time.
