Dry day but very wet & windy night

Saturday was predominantly dry, a little light drizzle mid-morning, with 1.1 hours of strong sunshine encouraging the thermometer to a high of 16.1mm, which was 2.6C below the average.

The next weather front arrived in the evening producing 7.8mm of rainfall, the second wettest day this month, taking the total for September to 75.0mm, that is 13.5mm above the 33-year average.

The thick cloud associated with this weather front meant another mild night as the thermometer minimum of 13.3C was reached just before 9pm but as the cloud thickened the thermometer started to rise slowly to 14.2C at 08.00.

It was the windiest night for over two weeks with a maximum gust of 23mph just after midnight.
