Windrush Weather

Ridge of high pressure holds on for another day

Tuesday was not quite as warm as Monday with the peak of 16.8C being just below average (-0.3C) due to fewer hours of sunshine and a brisk breeze from the east. It was a dry day with the UV level rising to 5.5, reaching into the ‘High’ category at its peak.

Wednesday arrived with strong sunshine after sunrise that lifted the minimum of 4.8C, 2.0C below average, to 8.8C by 08.00.

The centre of the high pressure is mid-NorthSea so the breeze today will continue from an easterly quadrant. The pressure has built one mb to read 1027.4mb at 08.00, the highest since 18th April.

The soil temperature at a depth of 5cm has begun to fall away due to the colder nights with a reading of 8.7C at 08.00, down from 11.2C on Monday morning.
