The breeze from the northwest on Wednesday meant another cool day with both the maximum of 19.6C and minimum of 8.1C below average with -3.1C and -3.7C respectively. However, it was a dry day with the UV level rated as High.
Thursday dawned with total cloud cover and a very red sky in the east thanks to another depression in the eastern Atlantic. The first rain spots were observed just after 07.30 as the latest rain band moved in from the west and likely to continue for much of the day with varying intensity. This will make a very wet end to meteorological summer. The rainfall today will take the monthly total above average for the first time this month, currently 65.4mm. The wind is forecast to come from the southeast for much of the day, but light.
